Contents This book is the basic book of Agile Manufacturing. Agile Manufacturing has become a popular word to describe the new dynamic environments in which manufacturers must act in the future. The book describes this trend and gives a large number of examples from American business life. Furthermore, it describes a number of competencies acquired by “agile” manufacturers, including the competency to make solutions for customers, work with cross-functional business processes, to be a knowledge-based company, and to be very adaptable.
Recommendation The book gives a fine review of Agile Manufacturing, and there are many interesting points and examples. As with many other management books the principles may be difficult to put into practice. On www.produktmodeller.dk we have an article that briefly outlines the principles of Agile Manufacturing.  In relation to product modelling the book is a good source of inspiration for the more strategic facts.
